GRAPE-NUT CUSTARD | |
2 c. milk 2 c. light cream 6 lg. eggs 3/4 c. sugar 1 tbsp. vanilla 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/2 c. Grape-Nuts 2 tbsp. cinnamon sugar Combine the milk and cream in a stainless steel saucepan and heat to just under the boiling point. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg together. Gradually beat egg mixture into hot milk and cream. Pour mixture into a Pyrex or Corning Ware dish. Let stand for 5 minutes. Sprinkle the Grape-Nuts evenly on top of the custard mix. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar. Bake for 30 minutes in 300 degree oven. Turn oven off and let custard rest for another 30 minutes. If the custard hasn't yet set, turn the oven back on for another 15 or 20 minutes. |
