PRUNE CAKE 
1 c. Wesson oil
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. seeded cooked prunes
1 c. pecans

Mix oil and sugar well. Add beaten eggs. Mix flour, soda, and pumpkin pie spice. Add alternately with buttermilk. After dry ingredients and buttermilk have been blended with first 3 ingredients, add 1 cup prunes and 1 cup pecans. Bake in sheet cake pan at 325 degrees for about 40 minutes. Cake is done when toothpick comes out clean after testing.

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. butter

Boil 2 minutes and pour over warm cake. Sometimes I stick a fork into the cake to let the topping be absorbed into it.
