RYE BREAD 
1/4 c. potato water (warm)
2 cakes Red Star yeast

Let stand. Put 2 cups of hot potato water, a little of mashed potatoes in a bowl. Throw some caraway seed in to soak. Add 2 tablespoons lard and 1 tablespoon salt. Then add yeast mixture and 3 1/2 cups flour; mix good. Add 1 1/2 cups rye flour. Add rest of flour little by little and knead until it won't stick. Let rise. Punch down. Makes 2 loaves or 3 small loaves. Put in greased pans. Grease on top. Let rise. Bake in 375 degree oven for about 35 minutes. Grease on top.
