2 sticks butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add flour and vanilla. Start in cold oven. Then at 350 degrees until risen, about 50 minutes. Turn down to 300 degrees until done, about 1 hour. Makes 1 loaf.
