KATHERINE'S STRAWBERRY COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1 c. chopped walnuts
red and green crystals
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 c. chopped dates (8 oz. pkg.)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. Rice Krispies
black shoestring licorice

In saucepan, heat butter; add eggs and sugar. Mix well, stirring constantly. Blend in dates; reduce heat to low. Add flour, stirring and cooking until thick. Remove from heat; add vanilla, nuts and Rice Krispies. Mix well. Cool for 2 hours.

Shape into balls. Squeeze one end to shape berry. Roll in red crystals and dip flat end in green crystals. Cut black shoestring licorice at an angle and stick in end of strawberry.

Yield: 50 to 60.
