SALISBURY STEAK | |
1 1/2 lb. ground chuck 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 can golden mushroom soup 1 clove garlic, crushed 1/4 lb. sauteed mushrooms 4 slices bacon 1/3 c. water 1/4 c. dry red wine (optional) Fry bacon and crumble. Reserve 2 tablespoons drippings. Combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt, pepper and 1/3 cup of undiluted soup. Shape into 6 oval patties, then brown in bacon drippings. Combine remaining soup, wine, water, and garlic. Mix well. Place patties in shallow 7x11 inch baking dish and pour soup mixture over them. Sprinkle with bacon and mushrooms. Cover and bake for 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve with mashed potatoes. Serves 6. |
