LANE CAKE 
1 c. butter (2 sticks)
2 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/3 c. milk
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
8 eggs, separated

Cream butter and sugar; add milk and flour with baking powder alternately. Add vanilla. Fold in egg whites that have been beaten to form soft peaks. Grease and flour 3 (8" pans and bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.

FILLING:

8 egg yolks
2 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1 c. white raisins
2 c. pecans
1 can coconut
2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. pecans
1 can coconut
2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

In saucepan, add egg yolks, sugar, butter and milk and cook over medium heat, about 5 minutes, until thickened. Add remaining ingredients; mix thoroughly and spread between layers and on top of cake.
