CRISP TEACAKES 
Cream together:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening

Add:

1 egg

Stir in the following:

2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla

Pinch off pieces about size of a pecan. Roll lightly in palm of hand. Place on cookie sheet. Dip fork in water and mash balls out as flat as you like. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Yield 4 dozen.
