LASAGNA CASSEROLE | |
1 lb. Owen's sausage 1 tsp. instant minced garlic 2 c. canned tomatoes 2 (6 oz.) cans Contadina tomato paste 1 tbsp. Italian seasoning 1 1/2 tsp. salt STEP 2: 10 oz. lasagna 1. Brown meat slowly; spoon off fat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered 1/2 hour. Stir now and then. 2. Boil a large amount of water and cook 10 ounce lasagna until tender. Add 1 teaspoon salt to the water. This may take 15-20 minutes. Drain; rinse in cold water. STEP 3: CHEESE FILLING: 3 c. creamy cottage cheese 2 beaten eggs 2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 tsp. pepper 2 tbsp. parsley flakes 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced very thin 3. Mix first 6 ingredients. Place 1/2 the cooked noodles in a 9x13x2 inch baking dish. Spread with 1/2 the cheese filling; cover with 1/2 the Mozzarella cheese and 1/2 the meat sauce. Repeat layers. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 30 minutes. Before cutting in squares, let stand 10 minutes. Filling will set slightly. Makes 12 servings. May be frozen for later heating and serving. |
