FRIED OKRA 
1 lb. fresh okra
1 egg
1/4 c. buttermilk
2/3 c. cornmeal
1/3 c. self rising flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Wash okra and drain. Remove tips and stem ends; cut okra crosswise into 1/2 inch slices. Combine egg and buttermilk; stir in okra and let stand 10 minutes. Combine cornmeal, flour and salt in a zip - top plastic bag. Drain okra, small portions at a time, using a slotted spoon; place okra in bag with cornmeal mixture, shaking gently to coat. Fry in deep fry or in fry pan with oil as desired.
