POTFUL OF PASTA AND CHEESE | |
2 lbs. lean ground meat 2 medium onions, chopped 1 garlic clove, crushed 1 (14 oz.) spaghetti sauce 1 (16 oz.) stewed tomatoes 1 (3 oz.) sliced mushrooms 1 (8 oz.) shell (small) macaroni (1 c.) 1 1/2 pt. sour cream (3 c.) 1/2 lb. sliced Provolone cheese 1/2 lb. sliced Mozzarella cheese Cook meat until brown; drain off fat. Add onion, garlic, spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes, and undrained mushrooms. Mix well. Simmer 20 minutes or until onions are soft. While sauce simmers, cook macaroni shells according to package. Drain; rinse with cold water. Layer the ingredients in a deep casserole: Sauce, macaroni, sour cream, Provolone, sauce, macaroni, sour cream, and Mozzarella. Repeat this, ending with Mozzarella cheese. Cover casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove cover. Bake until cheese melts and browns. Serves 10 to 12. |
