SPICED APPLE CHARLOTTE 
8 c. finely diced apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. orange juice
1/2 c. butter
6 c. soft bread, cubed

Peel, core, and chop apples. Mix in a bowl with sugar, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and orange juice. In a saucepan, melt butter and stir inn bread cubes, tossing to coat evenly. In a greased 2 quart casserole, layer the bread cubes and apple mixture, starting and finishing with the cubes. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove cover, stir, and bake 15 minutes longer or until cubes are browned. Good warm or cold. Serve with cream if desired.
