HAYSTACKS 
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
2 c. butterscotch flavored chips
6 c. chow mein noodles or corn flakes
2/3 c. semi sweet mini chocolate chips
Chopped peanuts or chocolate jimmies (opt.)

Combine shortening, peanut butter, butterscotch chips in large microwave dish. Cover with wax paper. Microwave at 50% (medium) for 1 minute. Stir and repeat until smooth (or melt on range top in small saucepan on very low heat, stirring constantly).

Place noodles or corn flakes into large bowl. Pour hot mixture over flakes and stir with spoon until coated. Stir in chocolate chips. Spoon onto waxed paper lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and chill until firm. Yield: 3 dozen cookies.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
