CHOCOLATE NUT BALLS 
These were a big hit at the June MDSC Board Meeting.

1/2 c. shortening (I use butter)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 sqs. baking chocolate, melted (unsweetened)
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. nuts, finely chopped

Mix well shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in vanilla and melted chocolate, then flour and salt. Blend in nuts. Drop by teaspoons on baking sheet. Flatten with a glass covered with a smooth, damp cloth (like a cloth napkin). Bake 8-10 minutes at 325 degrees. Double, or they'll disappear in no time.
