CHOCOLATE CHIP OR BUTTERSCOTCH

2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter or shortening
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. water
2 eggs
1 c. nuts
1 lg. pkg. chocolate or butterscotch chips

Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. Cream butter or shortening, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and water. Beat in 2 eggs. Add flour mixture and mix. Stir in 1 cup nuts and chocolate or butterscotch chips. Drop by teaspoonsful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Same batter 10 x 15 inch pan for 25 minutes. Makes thin cookies. For thicker cookies, may be used in 9 x 13 inch pan.
