PECAN PIE SURPRISE BARS 
18 1/2 oz. pkg. Pillsbury butter or yellow cake mix
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 egg
1 c. chopped pecans

Filling:

2/3 c. reserved cake mix
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Generously grease the bottom and sides of 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix for the Filling.

In a large mixing bowl, combine remaining dry cake mix, butter and 1 egg; mix until crumbly. Press into a prepared pan.

Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden brown.

Meanwhile, prepare Filling. Pour Filling over the partially baked crust; sprinkle with pecans. Return to oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until Filling is set. Cool and cut into bars.

To Prepare Filling:

In a large mixer bowl, combine all ingredients; beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes.

Makes 3 dozen bars.
