TEX - MEX TAMALE PIE 
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 can tomatoes (14 1/4 oz.)
1 can (16 oz.) whole kernel corn, drained
2-3 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. salt
1 can sliced ripe olives (4 1/2 oz.)
1 1/2 c. grated American cheese

TOPPING:

1 c. corn meal
1 c. milk
2 eggs

Brown beef in a skillet. Add onions and garlic. Cook until tender. Drain fat. Add tomatoes, corn and seasonings. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Pour into 8 x 12 x 2 inch pan. Top with sliced olives. Spread mixture of corn meal, eggs and milk over filling, slowly and carefully. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serves 6.
