BACKHOUSE LIME PICKLES | |
7 lb. cucumbers, cut 1/4" thick 2 gal. water Add 2 c. lime Soak cucumbers for 24 hours. Rinse well and cover with cold water and soak 3 hours. Drain and then cover with following mixture: 4 1/2 lb. sugar 2 tsp. celery seed 2 tsp. whole cloves 2 tsp. mixed spices 3 tbsp. salt Let stand overnight; boil in syrup 35 minutes. Pack in jars and seal. These are very crisp. |
