BUTTER HORNS 
1 c. milk - scald & cool
1/2 c. shortening (1/2 oil)
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast (rapid rise in 1/4 c. warm water & 1 tbsp. sugar)
3 beaten eggs
5 to 6 c. flour

Scald milk. Add shortening, sugar, salt and mix well. Add yeast to cooled milk mixture. Next add beaten eggs. Last add flour to make a soft dough. Let rise. Divide in thirds. Roll each to a 15 inch circle. Cut into 12 pie shapes. Spread with melted butter. May sprinkle on some seasonings, cheese or bacon bits. Roll up from wide end. Let rise. Brush with melted butter before baking at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until brown and done. Brush again with melted butter when taken from oven. Yield: 3 dozen.
