DOWN HOME BEEF CASSEROLE 
1 lb. hamburger
Salt & pepper to taste
1 med. chopped onion
1 chopped green pepper
1 can whole kernel corn, undrained
1 can pinto beans
1 can cream of tomato soup
1/2 can (soup) of water
1 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 tsp. sugar
1 egg
Milk or buttermilk, as needed

Brown hamburger, add salt and pepper. Add onion, green pepper, corn, beans, soup and water. Cook until pepper and onions are done. Put this in baking dish. Mix meal, sugar and egg; add milk to thin batter so it can be poured gently over beef mixture. Bake at 400 degrees until cornbread is done.
