1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. applesauce
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Cream shortening and sugar; stir in egg. Sift dry ingredients together; add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 4 1/4 dozen.
