BUTTERCREAM ICING 
2 lb. powdered sugar, sifted
1 1/4 c. Crisco
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. flavoring, preferably color-less
1/2 c. water

Using an electric mixer at low speed, blend Crisco, half of the sugar, salt, and flavoring. Add rest of sugar. Mix until well blended.

This icing will keep in a covered container in the refrigerator for several weeks.

For over all frosting flowers and decorations.
