MOM'S APPLE COBBLER 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. self rising flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. milk
2 c. finely chopped apples
1 tsp. cinnamon

Melt butter in baking dish. In pan heat sugar and water until melted. Cut shortening in flour. Add milk and stir with fork until dough leaves the side. Pour onto floured board. Roll out. Sprinkle cinnamon on apples then spread apples on dough. Roll up like jelly roll. Damped and seal each end. Cut in slices.

NOTE: Put slice in dish and pour syrup around them. Bake for 60 minutes. Serves 8.
