OLD FASHION TEA CAKES 
1 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 tbsp. buttermilk
5 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each egg. Add buttermilk and beat well. Combine flour and soda and gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in vanilla. Chill dough overnight. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on floured surface. Cut out. Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 375 degrees until brown.
