BUTTERMILK PIE 
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. melted butter
3 heaping tbsp. flour
3 white eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 unbaked 9" pie shell, recipe below

Cream sugar and butter. Add flour and eggs. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Bake in pie shell at 350 degrees until set (40-50 minutes).

FLAKY PIE CRUST:

4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. shortening
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 egg

Mix first 4 ingredients with fork. In small bowl, beat 1/2 cup water and remaining ingredients. Add to first mixture and blend with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Mold dough into 5 balls and chill 15 minutes before rolling out. Makes 5 single pie crusts. Freezes well.
