THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
1 c. butter
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. oatmeal, ground into a powder in food processor
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
12 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 tsp. salt
4 oz. Hershey bar, finely grated
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy; mix in eggs. Add dry ingredients (salt, baking powder, baking soda, flour) and vanilla, mixing well. Slowly mix in oatmeal. Dough will become fairly stiff. Mix in grated chocolate, chocolate chips and nuts. Place golf ball (or smaller) size balls of dough on ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 6-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and transfer to racks to cool (if you can wait that long!) Makes about 4 dozen.
