ORANGE SLICE CAKE | |
1 c. butter 2 c. sugar 4 c. flour 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 c. nuts 1 lb. orange slice candy 1 tsp. orange rind 4 eggs 1 tsp. baking soda 1 lb. dates, pitted 2 c. coconut Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, 1 at a time. Flour dates, nuts and candy in 1 cup of the flour called for; add milk and remaining flour. Add fruit and stir in by hand. Bake 2 hours at 250 degrees. FILLING: 2 c. confectioners sugar 1 c. orange juice 1 tsp. grated orange peel Mix and pour over hot cake and let stand in pan until cool. Use tube pan for large cake or cook in 9x13x2 inch pan and cut into small squares and roll in confectioners sugar. |
