KOREA BEEF BARBEQUE
1.5 lbs. beef (600 g)
A little sugar
A pear
1 bulb garlic, smashed
A little sesame seed
3 tsp. sesame oil
A little black pepper
2 scallions, smashed
6 tbsp. soy sauce
1 bunch red lettuce
Add water to cut saltiness

Cut the meat in a thin slice. Pound the slice slightly with the wrong side of knife to tenderize the meat and to ease barbeque sauce penetrated into meat. Spread a little bit of sugar on both sides of each slice.

How to make barbeque sauce: Prepare smashed garlic and scallion. Squeeze the juice out of a pear. Mix smashed garlic and scallion, juice extracted from a pear, soy sauce, sugar, pepper, sesame oil and sesame seed in a big bowl.

Dip each slice in prepared barbeque sauce. Rub and press the meat with finger to be soaked through barbeque sauce.

Clean red lettuce and make each leaf into big pieces. Make lettuce sauce with soy sauce, sugar, red pepper, sesame seed, sesame oil, smashed garlic and scallion. Spread lettuce sauce on each piece of red lettuce (optional).

Heat up each slice on a grill (charcoal is better than gas grill). Do not heat it up too much. Serve barbequed slice with seasoned lettuce.
