MOTHER'S ONE EGG CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 sqs. bitter chocolate
1 c. cake flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

Place in mixing bowl 2 squares chocolate, cut up. Add 1/2 cup boiling water; stir. Cool. Add dry ingredients; add shortening. Beat 1 minutes. Add buttermilk, vanilla, and egg; beat 1 more minute. Put in 9 inch square greased and floured pan. Bake at 325 degrees about 30 minutes.
