CHRIS' CARAMEL CORN 
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 lb. butter
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
6 qt. unsalted popcorn

Mix all ingredients EXCEPT soda and popcorn in large pot. Stirring often, bring mixture to hard ball stage (260 degrees), takes about 5 minutes. Add soda, stirring to mix well. (Mixture will foam up.) Pour over popcorn in large baking Pam. Stir to coat evenly. (Be careful! Mixture is HOT.) Bake 1 hour at 200 degrees, stirring every 20 minutes. Turn out onto waxed paper to cool. Break apart when cool and enjoy. (1 cup peanuts may be added to caramel mixture when cooking.)
