ATLANTIC CITY SALT WATER TAFFY 
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2/3 c. corn syrup
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar and cornstarch in large saucepan. Add sugar, butter, water, and salt; cook until mixture starts to boil, stirring constantly. Boil rapidly (254 degrees) to hard ball stage. Pour into lightly buttered, shallow pan. Let stand until cool enough to handle. Sprinkle flavoring over candy. Butter hands lightly; pull candy until it has satin like finish and its quite elastic. Pull into 1/2 inch rope; cut into 1 inch long with scissors. Wrap in wax paper.
