OLD FASHION EGG CUSTARD | |
6 eggs, separated 2 c. milk 1/2 stick butter, whipped 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. vanilla 1/2 c. flour 2 unbaked pie shells Bake pie shells. Set aside. Separate eggs. Set whites aside. Put egg yolks, 1 cup milk, butter, sugar and vanilla in a saucepan and mix well. Cook on medium heat on top of stove. Bring to a boil. Mix flour and 1 cup milk and pour into mixture on stove. Cook until thick. Pour into pie shells. Topping: Beat egg whites until stiff. Add 3 tablespoons sugar and teaspoon vanilla to egg whites and beat. Spread over pies and brown in oven. Makes 2 pies. |
