GRANDMA'S CASSEROLE | |
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck 1 c. chopped onion 1 green pepper, chopped or cut in strips 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 tbsp. sugar 1 lb. can tomatoes or 1 qt. home canned tomatoes 15 oz. can tomato sauce 2 c. water 1 (8 oz.) pkg. wide noodles 8 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese In Dutch oven, saute pepper and onions in butter for 3 minutes. Add meat and brown; add salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir in tomatoes and tomato sauce. Add water. Heat mixture to boiling and let simmer 15 minutes. Pour into 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Layer meat mixture and noodles. Be sure noodles are covered with sauce. Top with cheese. Cover and bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. |
