HEARTY HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. ground chuck
1 c. green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped carrots
1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes, cut in pieces
1/4 c. barley
1 tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
8 c. water
1 env. Lipton country vegetable with noodles

Brown hamburger on moderate heat in large kettle or Dutch oven, breaking up the lumps. Drain, add onions and saute 5 minutes. Add green peppers, celery, carrots, tomatoes with juice, barley, salt, pepper, and water. Bring to boil, lower heat and simmer 1 hour until barley is tender. Add soup mix and extra noodles. Simmer 30 minutes longer.
