EASY HOMEMADE FLOUR TORTILLAS
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup warm water

Combine all the flour, salt, vegetable oil, and water until it forms a dough.

Roll the dough into a big ball and take about an 1 to 2 inch pieces off. Pat the dough flat with your hands or take a rolling pin and roll into circles.

Put the dough on a flat pan on the stove and let the sides cook until there are little brown specks on both sides like you would see on other tortillas.

This was my first time ever making homemade tortillas, and I am thrilled with the results. It took me til almost the 12th tortilla to figure out how thin to roll the dough and to tell when they were perfectly done, but nevertheless, the entire batch was better than store-bought; these have a LOT more flavor. The only change I made was to use shortening in lieu of the oil, and to allow the dough to rest for 10 minutes or so before I rolled it out. Sirena, thank you for sharing this recipe. I'll be making this again.

I realized I was out of wraps and made half a batch quickly for lunch! So easy! The hardest part was trying to roll them thin but it wasn't too hard with a rolling pin.

These were great! I wanted to make huevos rancheros for one and this was perfect to adjust to make enough tortillas for me! I added cumin for extra spice, but a great recipe when you're too lazy to go to the store for tortillas!

This recipe is FANTASTIC. I am a Peace Corps Volunteer serving in rural South Africa. Us volunteers love cooking food that reminds us of home. We have a recipe book with a recipe for tortillas that never come out right. Last night we googled this recipe and the tortillas turned out SO WELL! We are still amazed. Thanks for sharing.

Never made homemade tortillas before but was out of store bought, odd thing for a Mexican/German household. So I made these, hubby loved them! He said I made them just right. Think this may become a normal staple for our house hold instead of buying them.

I rarely leave reviews for recipes, but this one deserves a great one! Made these because I wanted to make my husband breakfast burritos for work for the week and we didn't have any flour tortillas. So easy and so much cheaper, not to mention better tasting! I used our griddle set at 350°F (400°F was too high) and brushed just a little bit of oil on the griddle since ours is prone to sticking. Wonderful recipe!! Thanks!!
