GREAT-GRANDMA'S APPLE FLUFF | |
4 c. apples 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, or to taste 1 1/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. water 2 egg yolks 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 6 tbsp. hot water 2 egg whites Peel and slice apples into casserole. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, nutmeg, and water; spread on apples. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add 1/4 cup sugar. Set aside. Mix remaining ingredients together to make dough. Fold egg white mixture into the dough. Pour over the apples. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until apples are soft and dough is golden brown. Excellent dessert! |
