GRANDMA'S APPLE DUMPLINGS | |
6 apples, pared & cut in quarters DUMPLING MIX: 3 c. flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. shortening 3/4 c. milk 1/2 c. sugar Cinnamon 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. butter 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/8 c. water 1/8 c. butter Mix flour, baking powder, powdered white sugar, salt and shortening; mix thoroughly. Add milk. Roll dough and cut in 12 squares. Place 1/2 apple in each square, sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and dot of butter. Bring corners of squares to center, seal edges. Put 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup butter in bottom of 9"x13" pan. Place apples over sugar mixture in pan. Place in oven at 425 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve hot, covered with milk. |
