"DOCTORED UP" WHITE RICE | |
1 to 1 1/2 c. rice 1 to 1 1/2 c. water 1 teaspoon thyme 1 teaspoon basil 1 teaspoon pepper 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon dill weed Bring water to a boil. Add thyme and basil to water while heating (this brings out the flavor of the spices, since dried spices are used). Add rice to water while it is boiling and turn down the heat. I find, depending on brand (and if you're not using Minute Rice) you may need to boil for a bit before reducing water temperature. Add the peppers, salt and dill. To kick it up a bit, combine equal parts of water and chicken stock or apple juice to equal the 1 1/2 cups. It gives it a great flavor and complements the dish you serve it with.
