1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. baking soda
1-1 1/2 c. M & M plain candies

Blend shortening and sugars in large bowl. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Sift all dry ingredients together, add to mixture, blending well. Drop by teaspoon on ungreased baking sheet. Decorate tops with M & M's pressing down into each cookie. Bake at 350-375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. These are especially colorful at Christmas using red and green M & M's. Makes about 3 dozen.
