TAMALE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 sm. onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 can (7 1/2 oz.) whole tomatoes, drained
1 can (16 oz.) refried beans
1 jar salsa (16 oz.)
1 c. whole kernel corn
1/4 c. green onions, sliced
1/4 c. chopped cilantro
1/4 tsp. cumin
1/8 tsp. chili powder
1/4 c. chopped bell pepper
1 pkg. cornbread mix (15-16 oz.)
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

In large skillet, brown meat, onion and garlic powder. Drain. In large bowl combine meat mixture and all ingredients except bell pepper, cornbread and cheese. Spread meat mixture into 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Fold cheese and bell pepper into prepared cornbread mix.

Top meat mixture with cornbread mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes, let stand 15 minutes before serving. Serves 6-8.
