MOM'S RAISIN CAKE 
1 box raisins
3 c. hot water
1 c. cold water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. lard or shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. baking soda
4 c. flour

Cook raisins 15 minutes in 3 cups hot water. Add 1 cup cold water then sugar, lard, salt and cinnamon. Mix well then stir soda in 1/2 cup hot water. Add to mixture along with flour. Mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes until done.
