BANANA SURPRISE LOAF 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. dates (optional)
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 c. mashed ripe bananas

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add dates and toss lightly. Cream together sugar and butter; beat in eggs and lemon juice. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, alternately with bananas; after each addition, beat until smooth. Pour into a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes clean. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
