COFFEE BLOND BROWNIES 
1 lb. dark brown sugar
3/4 c. butter
2 tbsp. strong instant coffee
1 tbsp. hot water
2 eggs
2 tbsp. vanilla extract
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. chocolate bits

Heat brown sugar and butter in medium saucepan over medium low heat. Dissolve the coffee in the hot water and stir into butter mixture. Cool to room temperature. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter 12 x 9 inch baking pan. When butter mixture is cool, beat in eggs and vanilla with mixer.

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together and stir into butter mixture with wooden spoon. Stir in walnuts and chocolate bits. Spread the mixture evenly in pan. Bake until lightly browned - 25-30 minutes. Cool and cut into 2 inch squares.
