OATMEAL SPICE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Combine water and oats. Cream butter and sugars until well blended, add eggs, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg; beat well, stir in oatmeal, flour and nuts, blending well. Pour into 13 x 9 inch pan, greased and floured on the bottom.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in center. Spread icing on warm cake. Broil 2 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.

BROILED ICING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. light cream or milk
1/4 c. butter
1 c. coconut
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Heat until warm and butter is melted.
