APPLE OATMEAL SQUARES 
Recommended by American Heart Assn. for dessert. Portion: 1/2 cup. Serves 24. Calories per serving: 175. Pan size: 12 x 20 x 2. Oven temp: 350 degrees.

8 c. skim milk
3/4 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. salt (optional)
1 tbsp. cinnamon
4 c. uncooked oatmeal (rolled oats)
4 c. apples diced, peeled
2 c. raisins

Heat to boiling milk, brown sugar, butter, salt and cinnamon. Stir in oats, apples and raisins. Heat without stirring until bubbles appear at edges. Spread evenly in greased pan. Bake 30 minutes. Cut in squares. Serve warm. May be reheated. This is an attractive, nutritious breakfast item.
