OLD FASHIONED POUND CAKE | |
3 sticks butter 3 c. sugar 6 egg yolks, save the whites for last 3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tbsp. vanilla 1 c. buttermilk Cream together in a bowl, the butter, sugar and eggs. In another bowl combine flour, soda and salt. Mix the wet mixture into the dry mixture while alternately adding the buttermilk. Add the vanilla flavor. Last, take the egg whites that you have saved and mix them with the electric mixer until they are fluffy and white. Very carefully fold these egg whites into the batter so your cake will be very light and fluffy. Bake this cake at 305 degrees for 1 hour, or until it looks done and not too dry. |
