APPLE ABSTRACT 
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 egg, separated
2/3 c. milk
1 1/2 c. cereal (Wheaties, corn flakes, or Special K)
1 to 1 1/2 c. sugar
Cinnamon
butter
8-10 apples, peeled

DRIZZLE:

1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Milk to make glazy

Mix flour, salt, shortening until crumbly. Put egg yolk in measuring cup and fill to 2/3 cup with milk. Beat slightly. Add to flour mixture. Roll half of dough onto floured board. Place on cookie sheet. Sprinkle cereal on top. Slice 8-10 apples on cereal. Sprinkle 1 to 1 1/2 cups sugar over apples. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Dot with butter. Roll other half of crust. Put on top. Seal sides. Beat egg white until stiff and spread on crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 45-60 minutes. While hot, drizzle with frosting.
