1/3 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. layer cake mix (except marble)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix butter, shortening, egg and vanilla. Thoroughly blend in cake mix 1/2 at a time. Can use dough in cookie press; or roll out to 1/8 inch thick and use cookie cutters; or drop with a teaspoon. Bake on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 6 to 8 minutes for rolled cookies, 8 to 10 minutes for pressed or dropped cookies.
