OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. flour

Mix sugar and shortening; add rest of ingredients. Chill dough; take small amount of dough and roll thin on floured board. Cut with small round cookie cutter or glass. Bake in 350 degree oven until slightly brown on edges.

FILLING:

1 lb. dates
1 c. sugar
1 c. water

Put filling between 2 cookies. Fix cookies as you need them. Keep dates in refrigerator.
