Wash and dry several large plastic containers. Sterilize by pouring boiling water over them, or in dishwasher. Set aside. Jam will yield about 4-5 cups. At least 1 qt. ripe strawberries Sure Jello (or similar pectin)
Stem and wash strawberries, and crush in large bowl, a few at a time. Measure to make sure you have at least 2 cups crushed. Add 3-4 cups sugar (amount depends on sweetness of berries). Set mixture aside for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, stir 3/4 cup water into 1 box of Sure Jell. Boil rapidly 1 minute, stirring constantly. Then, quickly add this mixture to fruit mixture and stir constantly for 3 minutes. Quickly fill prepared containers and cover. Let stand at room temperature for 24 hours, then enjoy or refrigerate. Freeze remainder. Refrigerated jam will keep up to 3 weeks.
